Description

ATTENTION: It's recommend to view the standard 1000pixel width version(link below) to enjoy the painting without miss any important details!

Well, i guess not as much to say.
Did a lot of speedpaintings the last year (89), but only one other finished piece back in spring(the paraworld-Fanart, uploaded just these days in the gfxartist.com-gallery).
So here is another proof to show people, finishing is always possible but time consuming. ;D

For this one, i started with just a lot of thoughts about the charakter and what i'd like to show in this piece. A picture without any story is lifeless and you never hit the top, if you miss to aim high.
And while the most of my speedpaintings lack in this part, for this FinArt i take the time to think about the content first.
Anyway, here is the picture:

started in PS7 with Graphire1, finished in PS-CS and Intuos3A5.

While I am not a pirates fan, this is good work.. what particularly sticks out for me is the focal perspective used... making the corner of the desk sharper than the background... sure, people will often have a fuzzy background and a focused foreground, but only rarely do they actually connect as part of the same actual image... so good work!

Concept:

Average

Technical Skill:

Strong

Impact/impression:

Strong
Pros:
Excellent impression of space
Superb background
Great lighting
Freaky expression that guy has
The jacket is just great
Cons:
What's the point of the bottom 1/3 of the image? This, together with the guy's head being so near the top, spoils the composition somewhat.
He should feed his parrot
Overall opinion/feedback:
Great image, spooky and brilliantly painted, let down by basic composition flaw
